Utah v. Strieff: You Are Not a Citizen of a Democracy but the Subject of a Carceral State

The United States Supreme Court recently published its opinion in Utah v. Strieff holding that the exclusionary rule does not apply when police officers unconstitutionally detain a person walking down the street, if the officer learns the person has a minor traffic warrant during the course of the illegal detention.  Many agencies have covered the controversial opinion (SCOTUSblogOyezAmerican Bar Association Journal,  Slate,  The Atlantic, and the The Washington Post to name a few).
